Position Overview:
Magic & Wonder Dinner Theater is seeking a Production Technician with a strong background in audio to join our live production team. This role is crucial in ensuring seamless technical execution of performances, events, and daily operations within the theater. While audio expertise is the primary focus, the ideal candidate will also be familiar with lighting, general AV support, and troubleshooting various technical systems throughout the venue.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, has a keen sense of "feel" and "vibe" in the room, and is eager to problem-solve across multiple technical disciplines.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Operate and mix live audio for performances, rehearsals, and events; adjust levels, EQ, and effects to create an immersive experience.
- Assist with programming, focusing, and maintaining lighting systems as needed.
- Serve as the go-to person for all technical systems in the building, including printers, iPads, fog machines, and other venue-related equipment.
- Regularly inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain audio, lighting, and AV equipment.
- Set up and strike production elements, ensuring all technical aspects run smoothly.
- Work closely with the production team, performers, and other staff to execute high-quality live experiences to ensure our guests have “wonder-filled” experiences
- Assist with edit and producing Souvenir Photos for our guests to purchase
- Participate in all required meetings (i.e. - Wonder University, All-Staff Meetings, 1-on1’s), to stay up to date with changes, grow as an employee, and support your team
Qualifications/Skills
- Strong background in live audio mixing and production (experience in theatrical, concert, or corporate event settings preferred).
- Familiarity with lighting systems, AV equipment, and general technical troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose and repair minor technical issues across various systems.
- Can-do attitude with a problem-solving mindset—loves to tinker, experiment, and figure things out.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced live production environment.
- Willingness to learn and be trained on specific theater equipment and systems.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of digital mixing consoles, microphones, and signal processing.
- Experience with lighting consoles, DMX addressing, and basic fixture troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with theatrical or live entertainment environments.
