The Overview:
The Product Strategy Manager serves as the subject expert in all matters pertaining to assigned product categories, including markets we plan to sell in, key competitors, and product line optimization and maintenance. The Product Strategy Manager owns product category strategy development (obtaining VOC for new product development, financial performance, SKU rationalization, pricing, inventory, and product performance (compliance to specifications, industry standards, and application use). Product Strategy Manager will collaborate with Product Marketing on launch collateral and technical information, and branding. They will work with supply chain and Product Development on new product launches and vendor development. The Product Manager will be responsible for continued product category maintenance, category enhancements, product training and trade show support.
What You Will Do:
- Monitor sales trends, customer feedback, market trends and the competitive landscape and present that information to the Product Strategy leadership team to influence the product roadmap and product line strategies.
- Track product line performance and recommend action plans, including product line extensions, buy-to-make conversions, cost savings opportunities, SKU rationalization, product sustainability, and marketing initiatives based on customer needs and wants.
- Work closely with the Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain departments to develop and enhance our PPE product categories through product line development, product line enhancement, supplier negotiations, supplier relationships, product training, offering, pricing, marketing programs and other product presentations
- Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership on product category performance and progress of key initiatives (e.g. cost-savings). Present business case and product category strategies to upper management that link to overall corporate strategies
- Support the voice of customer research process which includes conducting extensive on-site interviews and capturing key insights into the market being researched and curate ideas for new products.
- Manage the product life cycle process.
- Support the development & implementation of planning strategies that grow profit and volume based on category direction, new product development, product entry into new market segments, and pricing. Responsible for growth (revenue and profit). Of assigned product categories.
- Understand, define, and communicate the competitive landscape for the product category, define target markets and determine key market messages.
- Develop product specifications, packaging ideas and technical information for the graphics department
- Field troubleshooting calls from sales and end-users; deliver product and safety training, including standards awareness.
- Support trade shows and other company-sponsored events as required.
- May be required to mentor other resources or lead an initiative.
