Essential Job Responsibilities/Functions
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of sanitation staff, providing direction, guidance, and support.
- Schedule and organize sanitation shifts to ensure coverage and efficiency.
- Conduct regular training sessions for sanitation staff on proper cleaning procedures, chemical usage, and safety protocols.
- Sanitation Procedures:
- Develop, implement, and enforce sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment, utensils, production areas, and other surfaces to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a hygienic environment.
- Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to uphold and enhance food safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify the effectiveness of sanitation practices.
- Address and rectify any sanitation-related issues promptly to prevent product contamination.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations regarding sanitation and hygiene in food manufacturing.
- Implement changes to sanitation procedures as required to maintain compliance.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely replenishment of sanitation materials.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, inspections, and corrective actions taken.
- Generate reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with other departments, especially production and quality assurance, to ensure a seamless flow of information and cooperation.
- Conduct regular meetings with sanitation staff to address concerns, provide updates, and foster a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in sanitation or a related field in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation principles, food safety regulations, and HACCP.
- Leadership and supervisory experience.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
