We are a dynamic, hardworking, and energetic group of professionals and we are looking for an experienced Insurance Bad Faith Senior Trial Attorney to join our team. The Senior Trial Attorney will have responsibility for leading the litigation efforts to defend MagMutual against bad faith / excess exposure claims.
The hired Senior Trial Attorney will work closely with Senior Leadership, including the CEO, Chief Legal Officer, and Chief Claims Officer.This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic company that is working to challenge the status quo and create meaningful change within the insurance industry. SPECIFIC DUTIES :
- Directly represent MagMutual in all bad faith / excess exposure litigation matters in state and federal court.
- Develop a comprehensive litigation program to defend MagMutual from claims of bad faith / excess exposure.
- Negotiate case resolutions when appropriate.
- Pursue a client driven, service centered, and trial focused approach to the practice of law.
- Perform all legal work at the highest level, in conformity with state rules, and in compliance with defense guidelines.
- Handle all aspects of bad faith litigation / trial work.
- Handle all aspects of discovery, including taking depositions and preparing witnesses for depositions.
- Handle all aspects of settlement, including mediations.
- Prepare legal opinions and submit timely reports on all significant case activities.
- Adhere to MagMutual's defense guidelines.
- Ensure all files are properly documented and organized and that access to and / or the sharing of confidential information is properly restricted.
- Utilize case management software for maintaining notes, diaries, calendars, etc. on assigned cases in accordance with operating guidelines and procedures.
- Complete continuing education seminars and courses from internal and external sources to enhance medical, insurance, regulatory, and legal knowledge.
- Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutes, case law, and industry trends applicable to bad faith and medical professional liability.
- Travel as case needs dictate, potentially on short notice.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
