On a daily basis as a Foam Operator, employees must be able to learn and perform demold, insert, utility and packer operations in the foam department within the allotted time and quality standards for each operation. Each employee will be required to rotate in an established rotation within their assigned cell. Employees must be able to perform any combination of these operations throughout the day as required to meet production demands. Employees must understand the process, quality standards, and time requirements identified in the JES or training manual of each station they are trained in before they sign off. Employees must follow each area’s standardized work (JES) and rotation schedule, and their work product must meet the quality standards within the time allotted for each work station. Other functions performed by general foam production employees include but are not limited to cleanup, and control of non-conforming material.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Insert required components onto molds within standard cycle time.
- Demold foam pads from molds in accordance to the JES and within cycle time for that area.
- Convey foam pads through crusher in proper orientation.
- Trim excess foam flash from pads in accordance to boundary standards and per the JES.
- Cleaning molds at the top and bottom clean stations per the JES.
- Pack foam into designated boxes in accordance to part requirements and the visual aid for that part. Using the correct orientation, layers, and quantities.
- Label boxes properly and correctly with the matching part being packed into each box.
- Must be able to operate the CCS machines in the application of bladder bags and flash removal from the CCS holes.
- Perform rework and substitution of non-conforming material.
- Visually and physically inspect foam pads for defects in accordance to boundary standards as required, based on training and the department needs.
- Identify all foam pads with lot traceability and inspection stamp identification.
- Must be able to apply NRT spray in accordance to customers’ requirements and consistent with the training, JES and boundary samples provided.
Employees must be able to communicate needs to others in their work areas and interact in a professional manner. They must be able to communicate their level of comprehension to individuals who train them, and must be able to relay problems to supervisor.
Employees will be required to rotate in an established rotation within their assigned cell. Employees are required to wear safety equipment as indicated by the job (i.e. gloves, safety glasses, etc.). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; stoop; bend; walk; sit; use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 11-20 pounds, and occasionally lift and or move up to 52 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must also be able to discern various shades of color for all materials. Employees must be able to use a variety of tools (i.e. trimmers, spray guns, scoopers, saws, etc).
Pay starts at $19.00 per hour.
Work hours depend on shift assignment:
- 1st Shift hours are 6:30 AM until production ends (typically 8 to 10 hour shifts) Monday through Friday.
- 2nd Shift hours are 5:00 PM until production ends (typically 8 to 10 hour shifts) Monday through Friday.
- Additional overtime days/hours as required.
