Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the environmental, safety and health related efforts for the site, including participation in all safety improvement process activities for the facility. Champion and support EHS implementation of programs, campaigns, and initiatives by: challenging plant employees to be active participants in pursuing EHS excellence; promoting consideration of EHS implications in all plant projects and activities; providing positive reinforcement and coaching to employees; and continually demonstrating appropriate behavior and leading by example.
1. Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.2. Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws.3. Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.4. Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).5. Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.6. Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.7. Communicate identified or reported EHS issues to the EHS&S Supervisor and assist in resolution.8. Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health.9. Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures.10. Promote and participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training.11. Participate in plant and/or department level EHS audits, self-assessments and inspections12. Maintain SDS program for site to include contacting manufacturers for SDS and entering SDS into Maxcom System13. Maintain availability of labeling for chemicals in the plant14. Follow up on inspection recommendations and verify completion15. Responsible for completing inspections on a monthly, quarterly, semi- annual and yearly basis and coordinating corrective actions of any deficiencies noted for the following:- Emergency Lighting- Emergency Exits- Fire Extinguishers- Fire Doors- Eye Wash Stations- Ladders- Plant PPE16. Maintain ISO compliant safety and environmental compliance records17. Develop, create, and deliver safety training to employees as required.18. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.19. Participate in defining safety training requirements for employees.20. Conduct safety training as needed.21. Participate in internal and external inspections of the facility to assess and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, insurance and internal safety requirements22. Effectively interact with all internal functional job levels and with external agencies and resources in order to maximize the effectiveness of the safety improvement process.23. Maintain and increase professional knowledge and expertise related to the fields of environmental protection, occupational health, and industrial safety through annual professional development.24. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education (Degree/Major): High School diploma required. Associates degree or above in related field preferred or a combination of related training, education and experience.Certifications: Current or able to qualify for CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety certification preferred. Six Sigma certification preferred (green or black belt)Work Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a safety role in a manufacturing facility (preferably textiles or roll goods). Proven track record of safety accomplishments.
