This key role will involve overseeing the litigation support team, providing strategic direction, and ensuring that litigation processes are efficient, effective, and compliant. Will be responsible for the management and execution of a variety of tasks related to document management, e-discovery, trial preparation, and legal technology. This individual will play a crucial part in managing technology solutions to support complex litigation, maintaining quality control, and collaborating closely with attorneys and other legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Leadership & Team Management :

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of litigation support professionals.

  • Oversee daily operations of the litigation support department, ensuring high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and goals for team members.
  • Provide training and ongoing professional development to staff.
  • E-Discovery & Document Management :
  • Manage the e-discovery process from initial collection to production, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and firm standards.

  • Coordinate the processing, review, and production of electronic documents in litigation cases.
  • Develop and implement document management strategies and best practices.
  • Maintain and optimize litigation support tools, including e-discovery platforms, databases, and case management software.
  • Trial & Deposition Support :
  • Oversee trial preparation, including organizing evidence, managing exhibits, and coordinating electronic presentation systems.

  • Assist in deposition preparation and transcript management.
  • Provide support during trials, hearings, and arbitrations, ensuring all technology and exhibits are functioning correctly.
  • Technology & Systems Oversight :
  • Manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of litigation support software, tools, and systems.

  • Stay current on industry trends and new technologies that could enhance litigation support operations.
  • Ensure that the firm’s technology infrastructure is prepared for upcoming litigation projects.
  • Collaboration with Legal Teams :
  • Act as a liaison between the litigation support department and attorneys, paralegals, and other legal teams.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding improvements in litigation processes and technologies.
  • Ensure that client-specific needs and preferences are integrated into the litigation support process.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control :
  • Manage the department’s budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources.

  • Identify cost-effective solutions for litigation support services while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships and evaluate external service providers for technology and document review support.
  • Compliance & Risk Management :
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, client requirements, and firm policies, especially in relation to e-discovery and document management.

  • Implement best practices for data security, confidentiality, and privacy concerns, especially regarding electronic files.
  • Qualifications :
  • Education :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Information Technology, or a related field (required).

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS), Project Management Professional (PMP), etc.) preferred.
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation support, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

  • Extensive experience with e-discovery platforms and trial presentation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the litigation lifecycle, document management, and legal technology solutions.
  • Previous experience working in a law firm or legal services environment.
  • Skills :
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and mentor staff.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in technology tools used in litigation support (e.g., e-discovery, data analytics, case management software).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with a diverse group of stakeholders, including attorneys, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines and client expectations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and collaborate well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook and Adobe.
