We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team as a travel technologist in Troy, Michigan.
Job Summary:
This is a 13-week contract position with 36 hours of work per week, requiring a 12-hour night shift. As a CT Technologist, you will operate computed tomography scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation and Communication:
- Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure and answering questions.
- Verify patient information, including medical history and allergies.
- Position patients properly on the CT table to obtain necessary images.
- Instruct patients on how to hold their breath or remain still during scans.
- Operation of CT Equipment:
- Operate and calibrate the CT scanner, ensuring proper settings for each scan.
- Administer contrast agents or dye injections under physician or radiologist guidance.
- Monitor equipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are captured.
- Image Quality and Review:
- Review CT images for quality and ensure all required areas are captured.
- Work closely with radiologists to ensure images meet diagnostic standards.
- Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients.
- Maintain a sterile, safe, and clean environment in the CT room.
- Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent injury or discomfort.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to contrast agents.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Document patient information, scan parameters, and complications in the electronic health record.
- Participate in patient care planning and discuss imaging approaches with the team.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot CT scanner and associated equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and calibration of CT equipment.
- Keep accurate logs of equipment use, maintenance, and repairs.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Stay updated on changes to regulatory standards.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Accurately document imaging procedures and patient information.
- Ensure documentation is compliant with hospital policies and industry standards.
- Assist with maintaining patient flow by providing quick turnaround times for imaging results.
- Patient Education and Support:
- Provide education and guidance to patients regarding aftercare and potential side effects.
- Address patient concerns and offer support as necessary.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity throughout the imaging process.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT imaging technology.
- Attend in-house training sessions and seminars on new imaging techniques or equipment.
- Maintain professional certification and licensure.
- Travel experience as a CT Technologist.
- Current state licensure and certification.
