    • Monitor patients during the administration process, checking for any immediate adverse reactions or complications.
    • Ensure the proper disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with safety protocols.
  2. Imaging and Diagnostic Procedures:

    • Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras, positron emission tomography (PET) scanners, and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scanners.

    • Position patients correctly for optimal imaging results, ensuring patient comfort and safety during the procedure.
    • Adjust imaging equipment settings to obtain clear, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic images.
  3. Patient Interaction and Preparation:

    • Explain imaging procedures to patients, alleviating concerns and ensuring they understand the process, risks, and benefits.
    • Verify patient identity and medical history to ensure appropriate radiopharmaceutical use and test procedures.
    • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring they are in the proper position and assisting with any necessary physical support.
  4. Image Analysis and Documentation:

    • Review images to ensure diagnostic quality, and ensure proper labeling and documentation for each test performed.
    • Assist physicians and radiologists by providing preliminary image analysis, noting any abnormalities or relevant findings.
    • Maintain accurate patient records, including patient history, test results, and imaging reports, in compliance with hospital or facility protocols.
  5. Equipment Maintenance and Safety:

    • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of nuclear medicine imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to imaging equipment or radiopharmaceuticals.
    • Ensure that all equipment and facilities meet safety standards, particularly in handling radioactive materials, to minimize risk to both patients and staff.
    • Follow infection control and radiation safety protocols to protect both patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  6. Radiation Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines regarding the use of radioactive substances, ensuring patient and staff safety at all times.
    • Monitor and manage radiation exposure to patients, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Radiation Safety Office (RSO).
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and best practices in radiation protection.
  7. Collaboration with Healthcare Team:

    • Work closely with nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the proper execution of imaging procedures.
    • Communicate effectively with the medical team to discuss patient conditions and help interpret diagnostic images.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, discuss treatment plans, and provide input based on imaging results.
  8. Patient Care and Follow-up:

    • Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients, including guidance on hydration or any side effects related to the radiopharmaceutical.
    • Monitor patients during recovery and assist with any immediate medical concerns following the procedure.
