Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our manufacturing operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services necessary for our operations. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, contract management, and logistics to ensure that all procurement activities align with company goals and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and maintain the purchasing queue in the ERP system for timely order processing and release of purchase orders.
- Ensure purchase orders are updated with accurate lead times, confirmation dates, and delivery timelines.
- Act as liaison with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, timely deliveries, and resolution of late orders or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Quality Management to monitor vendor performance, including on-time delivery and quality issues.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and prepare/review purchase requisitions for accuracy.
- Adhere to ISO procedures and ensure compliance with Purchasing processes and standards.
- Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies and manage proper document control (filing, acknowledgements, etc.).
- Assist in addressing vendor performance issues by submitting non-conformance requests and processing vendor returns as needed.
- Review and address receiving/vendor discrepancies, shipping errors, and initiate corrective actions.
- Manage the flow of information between vendors and internal departments, ensuring clear communication on product, quality, and service matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Familiarity with ISO procedures and adherence to purchasing standards and processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for liaising with vendors and internal departments.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for tracking and reporting.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to take corrective actions in a timely manner.
