What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foundry Operations Manager position at Magnetic Technologies Corporation?
The Foundry Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the foundry to ensure smore operations and high quality metal casting productions. This role involves overseeing staff, ensuring equipment is maintained, tasked with materials procurement, employee supervision,, development, and training is provided along with scrap reduction, planned plan implementation and driving continuous improvement ins safety, efficiency, and cost management.
Duties and responsibilities
- Review production orders, schedule work assignments and production sequences to meet production goals and control production processes to reduce scrap.
- Track the status of all orders in process and advise Customer Service of activities and results as warranted.
- Establish standards of performance based on process instructions and machine capability to ensure efficiency in production and recommend process changes or improvements.
- Work with operations team to monitor inventory and manufacturing schedules, address material issues and conduct periodic inspections.
- Employ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to assist in production planning and execution.
- Coordinate the NCR dispositions with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality.
- Recommend/Implement production equipment.
- Personnel Management
- Lead employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
- Promote improved development and utilization of staff thru implementing cross functional training to ensure a competent workforce and building a succession plan.
- Enforce disciplinary action, when appropriate, as outlined in the plant rules and regulations and/or employee handbook. Interpret and clarify rules, regulations and general policies.
- Complete daily and weekly records on vacation and time off requests in ADP.
- Interview applicants, qualify new employees and recommend transfers, promotions and terminations.
- Assist with maintaining time and attendance of production employees in Syteline.
- Environmental Health & Safety and Quality
- Direct implementation of safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions, including: proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, availability of personal protective equipment and access to Material Safety Data Sheets in Sitehawk.
- Ensure the understanding of and compliance with all Quality System policies, procedures, work instructions and objectives. Assist the Quality Assurance function in corrective/preventive action.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Metallurgy, Operational Management, or a related field in manufacturing operations, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in foundry operations with 3 years of supervision of production staff.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of plant operations, corporate management and external regulatory agencies.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Enthusiasm and adaptability, able to acquire new skills and knowledge quickly.
- Strong customer service and communication skills to facilitate productive interaction with employees.
- Strong personal organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Working conditions
- May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
