As the Fundraising Operations Specialist at Airbnb.org, you will help develop and lead the day-to-day operations of a successful fundraising program, including database operations (Salesforce), donor relationship management, prospect research, and financial reporting, and will provide support and management of a light touch giving program. This position will be the lead knowledge source for a small, start-up fundraising team and will work on the continued implementation and management of Salesforce. This position plays a critical role in keeping the fundraising function organized, aligned, and on track to achieve its goals. The Fundraising Operations Specialist reports to the Head of Fundraising and works closely with the Finance, Operations and Marketing teams. This is a great opportunity for someone who has proven experience in managing fundraising operations and is looking to further develop skills and experience with a focus on international crisis response, while being part of an innovative, fast-moving, supportive and data-driven team. This is a full-time, two year, remote contract position with the opportunity for occasional travel to the San Francisco Bay Area. This role will work with the Airbnb team that supports Airbnb.org.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead Database and Development Operations: Working cross-functionally you will design and manage daily operations of Airbnb.org’s fundraising function in Salesforce including but not limited to developing and maintaining data integrity and accuracy gift records and pledges. This may include systems and process refinement, business system integrations, designing and generating reports, and designing and implementing a systematized moves management program.
- Manage and track fundraising team goals, objectives and tasks, utilizing Asana as needed
- Lead gift processing and acknowledgements in a timely fashion, including entering checks, credit card donations online gifts, stock gifts, wire transfers, in kind gifts. Refresh gift acknowledgment letters on a regular basis.
- Utilize various data sources to gain knowledge and inform fundraising strategies.
- Manage the donor data reconciliation process with the finance team.Provide administrative and logistical support for the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising office.
- Manage all fundraising email inboxes.
- In partnership with the Head of Fundraising, design, document and refine fundraising workflows, procedures and general best practices including workflows to ensure adherence to all relevant fundraising regulations, including state and federal laws, regarding donor solicitation and reporting.
- Partner with Finance to ensure audit compliance as necessary.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising team on crafting donor/prospect profile profiles, meeting briefings, and strategy documents.
- Partner with the Head of Fundraising in other relationship development, fundraising strategy, event and communications efforts as needed.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience working in the development operations of a nonprofit organization; experience with annual giving and major gifts required.
- Strong organizational skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with high standards for accuracy and efficiency. Ability to manage and organize complex data sets, track multiple campaigns and maintain accurate records in a fundraising environment.
- Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and is self-motivated with strong project management and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail
- Technical proficiency: High degree of comfort with technology, including database management with expertise and high competency with Salesforce NPSP, including gift processing and acknowledgements, pulling financial and campaign reports, creating queries and other CRM functions.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in donor gift data, maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Analytical thinking: Strong data analysis skills with the ability to define engagement metrics and assess donor data. Interpreting data and relationships to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making.
- Communication: Effectively communicating cross functionally and integrating fundraising systems throughout the organization. Works well both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices: Understanding different fundraising and approaches and trends in the field.
- Discretion and Confidentiality: High level of confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
