Job Summary
In this role within Xcel Energy Territory, you will be responsible for driving category strategy for multiple complex and high business impact categories. You will work closely with the business to develop and execute effective sourcing strategies, plan and lead competitive sourcing events, negotiate with suppliers, manage risk mitigation efforts, and oversee contract formation. Additionally, you will mentor and coach Associate Category Managers to ensure the successful development of the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of category strategy to optimize cost and improve operations
- Conduct analyses of supply, demand, market trends, supplier profiles, and contract modeling
- Manage multiple tier I supplier relationships to improve total cost of ownership, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement
- Lead negotiations to establish contracts supporting category strategies while meeting business requirements
- Administer all category contract agreements in compliance with underlying principles of contract law
- Create and manage project plans for the implementation of category strategy integrating sourcing and business project plans
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Finance or related field required
- 5 years of sourcing, purchasing or logistics experience
- Two plus years of contract formation knowledge and experience preferred
- Negotiation and project management skills preferred
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft® Office suite and purchasing/sourcing systems required
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent experience required
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred
