Job Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, including those with memory care needs.
- Plan and coordinate events that encourage socialization, creativity, and physical activity among residents.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with residents' health and wellness goals.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote participation in activities and gather feedback for program improvement.
- Provide counseling on aging issues to residents and their families, offering support and resources as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and assess the effectiveness of programs regularly.
- Supervise volunteers and staff involved in activity planning and execution to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Experience
- Previous experience in event planning or organizing activities within a long-term care or assisted living facility is preferred.
- Background in social work, caregiving, nursing home operations, or home community care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling and the unique needs of elderly populations is essential.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
- A compassionate approach to working with individuals facing memory challenges or other cognitive impairments is crucial.
