We are currently seeking a Full Time Med Tech/Caregiver at our Texarkana, Texas location.
Caregivers assist the elderly, or persons with disabilities with daily living activities in a residential care facility. Duties may include keeping house (making beds, doing laundry, washing dishes) and preparing meals. Caregivers also monitor and report changes in health status and provide personal care such as bathing, toileting, dressing and grooming of clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Cares for residents by changing bed linens, washing laundry, cleaning, bathing, assisting with personal care, toileting and overall getting around.
· Provides clients with help moving into and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, and with dressing and grooming
· Performs housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands.
· Performs health care-related tasks such as monitoring vital signs and medication under the direction of registered nurses and physicians and in accordance with policies and procedures.
· Maintains records of residential care, conditions, progress, or problems to report and discusses observations with supervisor.
· Serves meals to patients or other family members according to prescribed diets
· Instructs or advises clients on issues such as cleanliness, hygiene, or nutrition
· Ensures all aspects of safety and enforces safety rules and regulations
· Fills out and completes residents incident reports as needed
· Maintains confidentiality of all resident and employees information to assure that all rights are protected.
· Report any incidents, accidents or suspected residential abuse to appropriate personnel.
· Participate in all departmental meetings as required.
· Other miscellaneous duties as needed or requested by supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients.
· Requires a strong work ethic, patience, understanding and professionalism.
· Basic understanding of medical terminology.
· Comfortable in an environment in which clients cannot perform basic life duties.
· Understanding of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping and other care areas.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· One year of related experience
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of standing, bending and lifting.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
