Campus Location: Keystone Nursing Academy, 8455 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Summary of Position: The adjunct faculty of the practical nursing program is responsible to manage and teach curricula within the licensed practical nursing program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties of Keystone Nursing Academy adjunct faculty of the practical nursing program may include the following:
1. Development, implementation, assessment/evaluation, revision, and approval of the program in nursing, including the program’s curriculum, budget, admission criteria, and student and faculty policies.
2. Maintain responsibility for the learning experiences of each student, including, but not limited to, planning and guiding the instruction of educational activities based upon the scheduling needs of the program. Educational activities may include lecture, clinical, and/or simulation components.
3. Upholding existing lesson plans and course content for assigned educational activities.
4. Preparation for educational activities, which may include creating and/or distributing educational materials, such as handouts, exams, course outlines, or lesson plans, updating educational materials as appropriate, and/or obtaining materials or resources needed for simulation activities.
5. Supervision and maintenance of materials, equipment, and resources utilized during student educational activities.
6. Supervision of students during on-site clinical practicum experiences and adherence to policies and procedures established by individual clinical sites. Clinical preceptor faculty shall be responsible for no more than ten (10) students, and will remain available by phone or in-person when students are in the clinical area.
7. Implementation of various instructional modalities.
8. Communication, evaluation, and recording of student performance through timely grading of course work and skills performance as related to program objectives.
9. Supporting and facilitating student learning, success, and course completion by remaining accessible to students.
10. Adherence to program policies and procedures as outlined in the student handbook.
11. Demonstration of professionalism, including maintaining applicable licensure, certification, and/or credentials, and exhibiting professional behaviors toward others.
12. Completion of other reasonable and appropriate duties as assigned by the program director.
Qualifications:
Qualifications of Keystone Nursing Academy adjunct faculty of the practical nursing program include the following:
1. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
2. Demonstration of satisfactory leadership and collaborative qualities.
3. Graduate of an approved program of nursing accepted by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
4. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing by an approved nursing program accepted by the board.
5. Current and unencumbered Indiana nursing license.
6. Minimum of three years (3) of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
7. Previous experience in secondary education is preferred, but not required.
8. Commitment to the success of individual practical nursing students and the overall success of Keystone Nursing Academy.
