Duties
- Follows all established specimen collection, labeling, transportation, and handling procedures.
- Transports low-risk patients to and from other departments.\
- Assess patient needs, review patient history, and determine the reason(s) for drawing blood.
- Obtains vital signs, and reports abnormal findings to the care team.
- Documents all care given while adhering to the policies.
- Verifies patient identity before performing collection.
- Interacts professionally with patients, their families, and departmental and hospital staff.
- Sets up, disconnects, and operates the automated plasmapheresis machines.
- Disconnects and disposes of all contaminated disposable equipment.
- Analyzes blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years old or above
- Proof of COVID vaccination or willingness to get vaccinated
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, teammates, physicians, and the public
- Ability to use critical analytical thinking skills to identify and solve problems
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Willingness to be trained
