Duties
- Validates test requisitions by comparing information to the nursing station log and notifying unit staff of any discrepancies.
- determines the best approach to collect blood samples and other specimens, prepares specimens for laboratory testing, and conducts screening procedures to provide care to patients.
- patient identification is verified, and patients are informed about sample procedures.
- performs finger and venipuncture sticks to collect blood samples.
- uses the aseptic technique, departmental protocols, and isolation protocols to preserve the integrity of the specimen.
- collects therapeutic drug-monitoring tests in collaboration with nursing staff to ensure accurate medication dosage up to collection time.
- Counts the number of specimens collected each day and records the dates, initials, and times of each collection to keep track of how many were collected.
- performs bedside glucose testing, logs information, and informs the unit nurse manager of the findings to track glucose levels.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years old and above
- Complete a criminal background check and drug screen
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred
- Proof of COVID vaccination
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Comfortable working under minimal supervision
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
