TITLE: Assistant Director of Nursing
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
Non-Exempt
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of the position is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day-to-day operation of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility.
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the M.D.S. assessment process for all new admissions, annual assessments, change in status assessments and all other assessment requirements according to federal, state, and facility policy and as outlined in the HCFA M.D.S. training manual.
2. Assist the Director of Nursing in assuring that resident care is properly provided.
3. Make frequent rounds on units to oversee resident care.
4. Assist in the chart audit process as needed.
5. Assist the Director of Nursing in calling in extra staff as needed.
6. Attend all meetings and in-services designated as mandatory.
7. Assist in developing and implementing in-service training programs that relate to the Nursing Department.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

- Excellent communication skills written in oral.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia
2. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as law, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
3. Supervisory experience is a plus
4. Infection preventions certification is preferred.
5. Knowledge and experience in restorative nursing/ long-term care nursing operations is preferred.
