What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN Triage Nurse position at Magnolia Pediatrics?
Job Overview:
The Telephone Triage Nurse assures that communication with each caller will be handled in a professional and respectful manner. When appropriate, the caller’s symptoms will be assessed and triaged using approved guidelines in order to assist in obtaining the appropriate level of care and/or self-care advice.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to each incoming call.
- If call warrants a triage, the caller’s stated symptoms will be assessed to determine the appropriate level of care required to safely meet the patient’s medical needs. (Emergent, urgent, non-urgent or home care status). Triage nurse will use clinical knowledge, experience, and approved practice policies to handle the call appropriately; whether conferring with providers, providing home care, directing to urgent care, etc..
- When appropriate, provide home care instructions using approved, written guidelines as well as approved reference material provided.
- Thoroughly complete documentation utilizing the appropriate computer software in compliance with the approved policies and procedures.
- Maintain current nursing licensure by completing applications for renewal in a timely manner and by complying with all requirements for continuing education.
-Assist with Prior authorizations and vaccine reconciliation.
- Assist in clinic when needed
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently holds a unencumbered licensed as an LPN by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Prefer 1 year of clinical experience and pediatric experience
