What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at Magnum Companies?
- Resolves routing issues, responsible for terminal to terminal freight movement/balance, cancellation resolutions, driver scheduling and monitoring of drivers’ performance.
- Plan dispatches to accommodate cost and service goals. Identifies problems and resolutions and acts on them.
- Conducts continuous analysis & direction of driver assignments. Implements scheduling for possible load consolidation
- Dispatches Line Haul drivers via information in computer system and phone communication with terminals in order to get freight moved in a timely manner within our service standards.
- Interact with Field Supervision, Line Haul Drivers, Roadside Assistance, Operations Planners, Regional Directors, and Senior Corporate Leadership team.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Ensures the efficient use of a limited number of drivers and equipment to reduce unnecessary miles and empty runs
- Monitors road conditions and adjusts driver routes to avoid delays and inclement weather. Making the safest decisions possible for the runs.
- Assist with payroll
- On-call one weekend per month.
- Monitors routes and route adjustments to comply with DOT regulations

- Other duties as assigned
- Prior transportation experience in Truckload/Local/Intermodal/Cartage/Broker capacity
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in an environment where priorities and load schedules are constantly changing
- High level of interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with drivers and customers verbally or in written/messaging format
- Knowledge of business processes, transportation and dispatch terminology
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Participate in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Geographical knowledge of the assigned metro area and the Midwest
- Truckmate (TMW) and TMW Suite software experience preferred
- Familiarity with CSA principles and FMCSA regulations
- Goal oriented and able to set and achieve company or personal objectives established to ensure maximum productivity
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED and minimum of a two-year college degree (associate degree) and knowledge of the transportation industry (preferred).
