Service Technician

The Service Technician is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance on diesel engine semi-tractors and trailers.

• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks as needed on tractors and/or trailers.
• Perform basic inspections and report potential issues to supervisors.
• Follow checklists to ensure all routine maintenance tasks are completed accurately.
• Troubleshoot and repair defects found during services or while addressing a driver complaint.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including tool and equipment management.
• Provide support and train with more experienced technicians during repairs and diagnostics.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies while handling tools and chemicals.
• Work as a team to help keep Magnum’s equipment safe and running smoothly.

Seeking an individual who has:

• Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Technical knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software used to diagnose vehicle issues.
• A solid grasp of local, state, and federal DOT laws, policies, and procedures for protecting people, data, property, and institutions.
• Familiarity with transportation principles and methods for moving goods by road, including the relative costs and benefits.
• Time management skills for self and others.
• The ability to communicate with other tractor shop employees and supervisors to rectify problems such as missing parts and time constraints.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Diesel Engine Specialist or equivalent degree preferred but not necessary.
• Two years of experience in a complementary position preferred but not necessary.
• Will provide training for entry-level technicians.
• Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not necessary.

• Floors may be slippery, and hoses will be used with equipment on the floors.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred.
