The Magothy River Sailing Association (MRSA) is hiring junior sailing instructors for our two-week program!
We are searching for responsible, positive, hardworking sailors to teach our students how to sail. The MRSA Junior Training Program invites students ages 9-17 how to sail and race on the Magothy River over the two-week program duration. This program is held on weekdays from Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 19 at the Grachur Club in Pasadena. Our instructors are responsible for groups of around 10-15 students, depending on student experience, throughout our daily sailing course, both on the water and dryland. Other activities include playing sailing-based games, swimming, and land activities. Program instructors will have an hour's lunch break daily.
Responsibilities include:
- Availability from July 7th-18th
- Supervise students in your experience group
- Follow and promote all safety both on and off the water
- Develop lesson plans and activities for the students
- Maintain cleanliness around the Grachur Club
- Be a positive role model for all students and other instructors
Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of age
- Prior experience working with children
- Small boat sailing skills
- Maryland Safe Boater License or state equivalent (NASBLA)
- Current CPR and First Aid
- Commute to Pasadena, MD 21122
Compensation: $1,485
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 0730-1630: July 7th-18th
- Pre-Program Meeting meeting: June 19th
- Boat preparation: Saturday, July 5th
- Boat delivery and rigging: Sunday, July 6th
- Returning boats to storage: Saturday, July 19th
