The Clinical Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of an ophthalmology clinic, managing a team of clinical staff including ophthalmic technicians and scribes, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered by providing training, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards and protocols while coordinating with physicians and administrative staff to optimize clinic flow and patient experience.

The Clinical Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of an ophthalmology clinic, managing a team of clinical staff including ophthalmic technicians and scribes, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered by providing training, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards and protocols while coordinating with physicians and administrative staff to optimize clinic flow and patient experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Fosters a positive and successful working environment, creating partnership with providers, team members, and patients.
- Compiles, analyzes and identifies trends in daily statistical data as requested and presents data reports month-ly to appropriate parties with guidance from practice leadership.
- Assists with patient care during examinations, including taking vital signs and preparing instruments.
- Educates patients on pre- and post-operative instructions.
- Addresses patient concerns and escalate issues to the physician when necessary.
- Ensures accurate documentation of patient data, including medical history, visual acuity testing, and diagnostic results.
- Monitors adherence to established clinical protocols and quality standards.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues and coordinate maintenance with appropriate vendors.
- Resolves patient concerns, combining customer service skills, leadership, confidence and knowledge to ensure a positive, timely and effective solution.
- Travels to each location as necessary, but no less than once per month, to observe patient interactions, performance, etc.
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
- Proven experience in an ophthalmology clinic setting with supervisory responsibilities
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostic testing, and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and physicians
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize work effectively Strong leadership skills.
- Strategic mindset with ability to make difficult decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening, negotiation and presentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
