Job Overview:
Primary responsibility is for maintaining facility grounds, common areas, and landscaping in a clean and orderly condition.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Picking up trash around grounds, keep walkways clear and clean by sweeping and/or blowing debris
- Walking grounds and reporting issues or damage to the supervisor
- Assisting maintenance supervisor with minor maintenance and facility repairs
- Mowing and trimming lawn areas
- Weeding sidewalks, driveways, and throughout landscaping
- General landscaping duties including maintaining flower beds, watering plants, fertilizing, applying pesticides, and spreading dirt and mulch
- Planting, trimming, and pruning shrubs and trees
- Painting
- Running errands
- Cleaning and maintaining company vehicles
- Organizing equipment and materials
- Pressure washing
- General custodial duties indoors including clearing trash, cleaning, sweeping, and mopping
Required Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and occasional late-night or early-morning calls to address issues impeding the operation of the dealerships.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid New York State Driver License.
Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
- Lawn Care Equipment: Lawn mowers, riding mowers, commercial mowers, string trimmers, edgers, and leaf blowers.
- Snow and Ice Removal Equipment: Snow blowers, plows, and ice melt spreaders (seasonal).
- Landscaping Tools: Hedge trimmers, pruning shears, rakes, shovels, and hand tools for planting and garden maintenance.
- Fertilization Equipment: Spreaders and sprayers for applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Experience operating pick-up truck and trailer
- Power Equipment: Chainsaws, stump grinders, and other power tools for tree and shrub maintenance.
- Safety Equipment: Personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and reflective vests.
- Computer software: Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights
- Manual dexterity and the ability to operate various tools and equipment, including power tools and hand tools.
- Ability to work in different temperature environments, such as hot, cold, or wet conditions.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and engage in physically demanding work (e.g., lifting, pushing, pulling).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when performing maintenance tasks.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing work conditions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills to report issues, work with colleagues, and communicate with management effectively.
