Job Summary:
The Parts Driver will verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments. They will be required to deliver and pick up part orders as needed.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Count, weigh or measure items in incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
- Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications.
- Weekly maintenance of warranty returns parts inventory.
- Monthly maintenance of special-order parts inventory.
- Stocking inventory on parts shelf; ensuring that labels and placement are accurate.
- Updating superseded part numbers when necessary.
- Responsible for notifying parts manager when parts claim filling is necessary (i.e., mislabeled, damaged, shipping incorrectly)
- Assist in maintaining a clean and well-organized department.
- Sweep aisles weekly, empty trash when needed.
- Responsible for emptying cardboard and metal containers weekly.
- Deliver parts and equipment to customers, satellite locations, and vendors under manager’s request.
- Complete travel log for deliveries and request signatures from recipients.
- Unload truck nightly and turn in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
- Wash and clean the truck weekly.
- Notify parts manager about any needed maintenance on parts vehicles.
- Be familiar with MSDS location and information. Must wear and use protective equipment.
- Be willing to learn and train for parts sale position.
- Maintain CSI in top 10% of group.
- It is the Shipping and Receiving/Driver to support and endorse the dealership policies and procedures set forth by dealership management and manufacturers.
Required Experience and Education:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- One year of experience in automotive parts department.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid New York State Driver License.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
- Computer software: Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and CDK.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
Physical Exertion:
- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 70 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in company vehicle and other locations in the dealership.
- Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
Hazards and Safety Precautions:
- Hazards: Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
- Safety Precautions: Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.
