Mahaffey Enterprises, INC is a reputable excavation company in the Tri-Cities and has been in business for over 70 years. We are searching for a highly qualified Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in Heavy Civil Sitework to join our team.
Job Purpose:
To operate various heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders and scrapers, safely and efficiently.
Duties:
- Operates heavy equipment for construction including earthwork, moving materials, and any site clean up such as loading trucks for exporting materials and stockpiling.
- Finish grade to precise specs in areas including building lots, public/private roadways, temporary streets and more.
- Prepares heavy equipment by conducting operator inspections; performing preventive maintenance checks.
- Prepares work by studying and clarifying instructions, diagrams and plans; calculating requirements; gathering supplies if needed.
- Accomplishes work by operating equipment; observing varying conditions; adjusting equipment controls including GPS data.
- Maintains safe and secure work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps heavy equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; calling for repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
- Accomplishes operations and organization duties by completing related results as needed.
Required Skills:
- 5 years of experience operating equipment including a road grader and dozer
- 5 years of experience working in heavy/civil construction, including excavation, grading, underground utilities and road/highway construction
