What are the responsibilities and job description for the Membership Specialist position at Mahaffey Theater?
The Membership Specialist, under the supervision of the Membership Director is an integral part of the Foundation team. The primary function is to sell theater memberships and take ticket orders via the phone. The position will act as a primary contact for patrons while providing exceptional service and assistance to improve the overall customer experience. The position requires occasional night and weekend work for help with shows and special events. Must already live in local area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for generating maximum revenue by selling theater memberships, upgrading memberships, and individual tickets for performances – as well as recording donor preferences in their profiles.
- Maintain the member/donor database and keep records up to date to include all prospecting activities and closed sales.
- Create and develop new business by regularly pitching new prospects through phone prospecting.
- Performing outbound call projects to promote upcoming shows and special events and education programs of the Foundation/Theater.
- Provide the highest level of customer service through all interactions with patrons.
- Must become proficient in using all aspects of the Archtics ticketing system software.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and online research skills and use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Other duties as assigned and needed such as Member Lounge and special event coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Prior experience in ticket sales, telemarketing, appointment scheduling, or cold-calling techniques is helpful.
- Must have outstanding customer service skills and experience.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and able to effectively work with the public in a professional manner.
- Ideal candidate should be a professional, motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and dependable team player.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to adapt in a fast pace and consistently changing environment.
- Strength in time management, administrative ability and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills.

Pay: $15.00 per hour
