What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Age Associate position at Mahaska County YMCA?
The Mahaska County YMCA has openings for part-time School Age Associates in our Before and After School Program. The successful candidates will serve as role models for the the children in a safe, caring, and enriching environment. The Program provides quality experience to children, and parents, with focuses on the YCMA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
Essential Functions:
1. Work with Site Supervisor and School Age Director to develop plans for activities.
2. Assist with preparations for daily activities
3. Supervise the children, classroom, and activities
4. Interact appropriately with the children, involving them in structured, age appropriate activities, operating with their best interest in mind.
5. Follow and enforce program and organization policies as well as licensing standards.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Must be 17 years old, or older with some direct childcare experience and basic knowledge of children and child development.
2. Must submit and pass background check, have up to date TB test, and physical.
3. Obtain CPR, First Aid, AED and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 30 days of hire.
4. Promote the Y mission and core values.
All School Age Associates are accountable for complying with Iowa Department of Human Service licensing standards and Mahaska County YMCA policies and procedures.
