Your Contribution
As a Head of Operations, Fluid Systems reporting to the Murfreesboro Plant Manager, you will serve as the plant Business Unit (BU) Operations representative within the region. Responsibilities include managing all operations activities, including achieving production targets in quality, productivity, efficiency, capacity, safety, cost control, 5S, staff development and customer service. This position serves as a business partner with the Plant Manager to achieve P&L targets for the respective BU/Value Stream while also partnering with the extended Plant Management team to achieve the short- and long-term strategic plan.

This position will lead Direct Reports in Murfreesboro including both Business Unit Plant Managers and most Functional Department Heads. This role will lead indirect reports within a matrix organizational structure.

Act as the Operations representative within the respective region Business Unit (BU).
Assist with devising strategy for P&L goal achievement with Plant Manager for respective BU/Value Stream; ensure execution.
Develop economic & strategic plan (including headcount, CAPEX, capacity, PDP, inventory, launches) for specific BU.
Manage the alignment and drive PPI and Performance Lift (continuous improvement) deliverables, aligned with Plant and BU targets.
Manage and lead teams in all direct and indirect production processes required to produce and deliver a variety of finished products.
Closely partner with Plant Management team to prioritize and meet/exceed operational objectives.
Develop, maintain, and report production-related information regarding efficiencies and labor utilization.
Oversee operations to ensure that waste and production costs are minimized while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Monitor manpower requirements to ensure that production quotas are met.
Approve and ensure adherence to production schedules.
Serve as a change agent for safety and 5S on the production floor & infuses this expectation into the team.
Execute production schedules set by the planners and collaborate with Engineering to solve process related problems.
Develop Lean Manufacturing techniques to increase productivity, throughput and customer satisfaction.
Your Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Production Operations Management, Engineering, Business or related discipline is required.
10 years of experience, including experience with manufacturing processes.
5 of facilitation/leadership experience in which several of the following abilities have been demonstrated:
Building management-level customer relationships and responding to strategic business needs.
Managing resources to meet goals across multiple products/programs.
Leading multidisciplinary, high-performance teams.
Manufacturing Plant experience is required; Tier 1 automotive experience is strongly preferred.
Proven track record for delivering strategic results and executing effective change management. Well-developed leadership and project management capabilities with demonstrated success in completing core-business and cross-functional projects is required.
Foundational P&L knowledge is needed.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility.
Ability to provide decisive leadership and team facilitation in the face of adversity is required, including identifying root cause, action plan required, coordinating resources, and executing a go-forward plan to successful resolution.
Excellent vision regarding benchmarking and year over year progress is fundamental to this role.
Proven understanding & successful application of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies including Lean and Six Sigma is needed.
Ability to handle short and long-term projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems is required.
Must have strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certification is preferred.
Global or multi-national business experience is a plus.
