Your Contribution
As a Mechanical Process Engineer reporting to the Head of Light Vehicle Diesel, you will be responsible to develops and test machinery and equipment under direction of engineering and scientific staff by performing the following duties.
This role is responsible to:
- Develop and write task analysis, cost analysis and proposals for implementation of new processes or improvements to existing processes.
- Selects or designs parts and tooling to meet customer specifications and expectations.
- Works closely with line personnel to ensure newly developed parts and tooling are correctly installed and functioning properly.
- Confers with established personnel to implement standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and resolve system malfunctions.
- Develops, plans and models alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components, and recommends implementation of improved procedures, process improvements and/or set-up reduction techniques.
- Confers with workers in other departments such as marketing, training and development, and engineering, to provide technical information.
- Develops and conducts related equipment training programs and demonstrates skills to trainees (serves as a mentor or coach to established personnel.
- Prepares charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
- Performs equipment and facilities layouts.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions as needed to stay apprised of new developments in field.
- Completes engineering drawing(s) for part fabrication by internal or external vendors.
- Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
- Monitors the function, cycle time and other pertinent parameters of production equipment.
- Provides technical support for other departments (Design) regarding production issues.
- Develops/Optimizes process flow to increase efficiency of operation.
- Prepares reports concerning departmental activities as required.
Your Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- 2 years related experience with the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities
- CNC Programming, Machine Tool Programming, Drafting (AutoCAD required, Inventor preferred)
- 6-axis industrial robotic experience, steel machining experience
- Cognex Vision programming preferred
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Very Good communication skills, written and verbal, along with good presentation skills
- Team player, committed to doing what is necessary to generate Team success
