Job Summary:

The custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the area’s assigned within the facility. In this position you will be accountable for the completion of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, snow removal, lawn care, and other general cleaning responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Cleaning duties include sweeping, mopping, polishing, trash, windows and cleaning and moving furniture and equipment etc.
• Maintain restrooms through cleaning and disinfecting floors, sinks, stools; replenishing products; removing trash; cleaning and disinfecting receptacles, walls, doors, partitions, and other surfaces.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify Lead Custodian concerning the need for major repairs or needed supplies.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, and spread snow melting chemicals, as needed.
• Perform minor building and furniture repair including replacement of light bulbs and chair tips, tightening of fasteners, etc.
• Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning.

• Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in using manual and power tools safely

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous custodial/ cleaning experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb (ladders, lifts, and scaffolding), reach, lift, pull, push, stoop, squat, bend and stretch as needed throughout the assigned shift.
