Passenger Screener
JOB STATUS: Seasonal

REPORTS TO: Facility Maintenance Manager
Company Overview:
Since 1846, our world-renowned passenger vessels have been providing up close boat tours in Niagara Falls, NY, USA to customers near and far. The 2020 season saw the debut of two new, all-electric, emission-free vessels, the first of their kind built in the U.S.
JOB SUMMARY
This position’s primary focus is the safety of the facility. This individual should be alert and aware of any suspicious activity, and on-going random baggage check as appropriate with Marsec levels.
JOB DUTIES
· The screener will be responsible for the screening of visitors that are requesting access to the Observation Deck/ Vessel Boarding Area.
· A pre-determined number of visitors will be randomly selected to have their bags physically inspected each day.
· Screener will possess excellent communications skills to guide the passengers through the inspection process using training received and tools provided.
· Screener will report to the Facility Security Officer (FSO) any suspicious items found during the inspection.
· The screener will maintain a daily inspection log.
· Screener will be responsible for daily setup and tear down of inspection station. (Chairs, table, tent).
· This role may also be asked to operate the employee shuttle driving a van or golf cart 1 mile to employee parking lot.
· Assist as directed as requested as business needs dictate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication skills working with visitors with diverse backgrounds and native languages
- Strong attention to detail follow-through
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Perform tasks independently with limited or no direction
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- The ability to work professionally with the public
- To maintain a high level of confidentiality and be alert to potential security threats.
- Driver record background screening
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, light lifting, carrying. All the ergonomic requirements must be performed without significant risk of injury to oneself or others, or otherwise demonstrate or explain how one can perform essential functions listed above.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to clearly read, speak, and understand English. Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions while working independently. High School diploma or GED required. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Background check is required. Might be asked to pass safety courses upon hire.
