English Teacher - Maimonides School

Maimonides School, a K-12 Modern Orthodox Jewish day school in Brookline, MA, is hiring a middle school English teacher for the 2025- 2026 school year. You will teach literature, poetry, and writing to students in grades 6 through 8, with the potential to teach high school courses as well, depending on scheduling.  We are a school that emphasizes student-centered learning, where students do the intellectual work and teachers facilitate that work. You will teach four sections of English, primarily at the middle school level (grades 6-8) with the potential to also teach some Upper School classes

Collaborate with colleagues in the English and Humanities departments

Regular lesson planning and classroom instruction responsibilities; you will have the potential to adjust curriculum and propose curriculum recommendations based on experience and interests  Who you are

Hold a Master’s degree in English or a related field

Have 5 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level

Connect easily with and appreciate middle school and high school students

Ability to teach at all secondary grade levels 6-12 

Can differentiate instruction to develop students as critical readers, thinkers, and writers

A reflective educator—eager for continuous growth, open to support and feedback, and an excellent collaborator 

Are eager to participate in all aspects of school life

Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in collaborating with colleagues in humanities fields across our academic program Benefits

Salary range is $65,000-$72,000, commensurate with years of experience and highest degree earned
