BANK CREDIT ANALYST

Job Class: Non-Exempt Reports To: President or Credit Manager

Job Summary: To analyze credit data and financial statements of borrowers, firms or service providers to determine the amount of financial or credit risk the bank would be potentially taking if extending credit, lending money, or contracting services and prepare report with determinations and supporting documentation.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related field or four (4) or more years of experience working in a bank loan department or 2-4 years credit analyst experience in a financial institution.
  • 9 hours of accounting courses are required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Conduct cash-flow analysis to determine if the borrower or the company would be capable of repaying the loan.
  • Create the Loan Proposal Report describing the borrower, the transaction, the collateral, the financial and credit support, the potential risk involved, and explanation of the strengths and weaknesses of the credit.
  • Credit Analyst may participate in the Loan Committee and/or Loan Officer discussions regarding the completed analysis.
  • If revisions are made, responsible for updating the report and returning to the Loan Committee.
  • Review loan administration daily work (i.e., manual transactions, booking new loans, etc…) to ensure that all are posted correctly.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and creation of the monthly loan reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Computer skills. Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Windows, Internet Search applications and other software applications are applicable.
  • High standards of professionalism and confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of information that is accessible.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen
  • This position requires frequent manual dexterity in combination with eye/hand coordination such as keyboarding, handling of equipment, use of calculator, etc.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, or kneel.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
