Cashier

Main Market Co-op Grocery is seeking a part-time cashier for 24-32 hours a week (hour will vary depending on demand) to be a part of our team. We are located in downtown Spokane, and specialize in locally sourced, organic, sustainable products for our store.

Main Market's mission is to create a healthier, more sustainable Inland NW one bite at a time. We make a difference in our community by encouraging sustainability, focusing on minimal waste by composting and donating perishable goods, and giving back to our community whenever we can. We support local farms and vendors that specialize in organic, sustainable products. As a member of the front end team at Main Market, you would be directly contributing to this mission by creating a positive shopping experience for our customers, and helping them however you can.

The cashier reports directly to the Front End Manager. Candidates must be able to work independently and available evenings and weekends. Candidates must be 18 years or older to apply.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage transactions with customers using cash registers
• Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate
• Collect payments whether in cash or credit
• Assumes responsibility for solving customer problems and ensures commitments to customers are met
• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges
• Help maintain coffee bar and dining area
• Support a team environment, and be willing to help stock and reface grocery shelves upon request

Qualifications:

• Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar role in sales
• Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Customer satisfaction-oriented
• A positive attitude
• Willingness to learn

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
