Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) is located in North Philadelphia and is seeking mission-driven Family Coach applicants for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will align with ECCS’s mission and enthusiasm for an excellent and equitable educational experience for all students. The growth of ECCS has led to a new initiative of student and family engagement. This program will prioritize our most at-risk students' social and emotional needs through support provided by our family coaches making home visits, building rapport with families, and finding creative ways to bridge gaps between students and ECCS. Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades Kindergarten through 12 to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous, yet flexible, online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through a combination of curriculum choices and virtual tutoring and counseling. ECCS is targeted toward underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, and/or psychology preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) required
- A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny
- Desire and ability to spend a significant amount of each workweek in the field, using one’s vehicle to travel independently throughout the city and surrounding area
- Current FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse background checks
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the main point of communication with a caseload of ECCS families by distributing weekly communication and messaging
- Travel within the geographical area to visit the families' homes to support the student's academic and social development needs
- Contact the students/guardians weekly to build and maintain effective family relationships.
- Attend and facilitate additional school events such as information sessions, enrollment events, and field trips
- Conduct and assist in orientation and onboarding of students and parents
- Provide significant student and parent training
- Collaborate with teachers and family members to support each student's academic growth by assisting with tutoring as needed and linking family with other resources as needed
- Attend and facilitate (as needed) meetings with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and other staff members, including IEP meetings and attendance improvement meetings
- Monitor the progress and performance of students on caseload
- Maintain appropriate documentation and logs in the SIS
- Break down barriers to student learning and organize additional resources needed for success
- Motivate students to achieve and engage in class
- Provide resources: community, school, attendance, and student assistance program support.
- Ensure student and family is aware of and receiving all appropriate academic and social supports offered by the school
- Schedule students in their courses supported by the direction of the guidance department
SKILLS:
- Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to supporting and empowering students with diverse backgrounds, including an understanding of at-risk children, gifted children, and children with disabilities
- Possess effective decision-making, managerial, communication, and organizational skills
- Basic technological abilities in Google Suites and Powerschool SIS or a willingness to learn new technology skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
- Constant hand, finger, and arm use, and excellent eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
- To occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
- To occasionally stand for extended periods.
- Ability to see and perform visual activities such as closing paperwork, using a computer monitor, reading, and writing.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to come onsite for all required days 3-4 days a week.
