Position Description
Position Title: Licensed Mental Health Practitioner
Department: Student Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract Days: 185
Supervisor: Director of Student Services
Provides consultation, crisis intervention, advocacy with community agencies, school personnel, and others as needed. Communicates on a regular basis with the student's team and provides necessary documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
- Provides therapy to meet student needs in individual and group settings.
- Educates, shares and presents knowledge/skills on mental illness.
- Communicates with students, families, administrators, teachers and community agencies.
- Provides documentation of phone logs, communication with students, families, administrators, teachers, and community agencies, therapy sessions and other individual crisis management plans.
- Provides consultation/coaching for students and home attendance school staff.
- Provides, teaches and reteaches life skills, social skills, crisis intervention strategies and problem solving skills.
- Contributes to the process that includes mediation/problem solving.
- Facilitates, develops and maintains behavior intervention plans, functional behavior assessments and safety plans.
- Collaborates with outside agencies to provide documentation and receives supports for students and families.
- Participates in meetings, as requested.
- Participates to define a student's present levels of performance, provides documentation as needed.
- Maintains a safe educational environment for students, staff and community members.
- Regular and reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of this position.

Education and/or Experience
- Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field required
- Proven experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents, preferably within a school or educational setting
- In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent development as well as common mental health issues faced by students in K-12 settings.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and approaches suitable for school-based mental health services
- Experience in developing and implementing interventions to address mental health challenges and enhance academic success
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to establish rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within the school-based setting
- Proficiency in using electronic record keeping systems and other relevant software
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid license as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, School Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Practitioner).
- Licensure from Health Department
- Valid driver's license
