POSITION TITLE: Social Services Coordinator
STATUS: FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT
SUPERVISOR: Service Extension Field Rep or Director
Salary: $25-$27/hour (DOE)

SCOPE OF POSITION: Provides overall supervision and oversite of the South King County Service Center. This center functions in collaboration with a local committee. Services range from financial assistance, sending children to summer camp, supporting those in need with basic needs, back to school assistance and Christmas assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years social service experience preferred; three years acceptable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Will need to travel within the local area as needed but most work is in an office environment with frequent interruptions, multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model an open, client-centered, compassionate, non-judgmental approach
- Set boundaries and adhere to eligibility and other program guidelines
- Meet and follow all Salvation Army policies & program requirements
- Balance and manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Respond to crisis situations in a calm, positive manner
- Complete tasks, projects and daily requests in a timely manner
- Provide effective oral, written, and electronic communication
- Provide oversite of daily activities and to day to day operations of the center
- Attend agency and staff meetings as determined by supervisor
- Banking / Billing- Make deposits daily as needed as well as process and code vouchers for payment
- Budget, track, and provide financial stewardship for all Salvation Army funds and donations
- Record, report and manage all in kind donations
- Meet goals and outcomes set by the program and supervisor
- Social Services
- Interview and asses’ clients’ needs while keeping good records of services provided
- Provide referrals to both internal and external resources as necessary
- Answer and respond to client assistance phone calls, e-mails, and faxes within 24-48 hours and respond to drop-in visits as needed
- Maintain client records, accurate data entry, and produce reports as required by supervisor, agency policy and funding sources
- Volunteer Management
- Increase and leverage volunteerism in South King County
- Provide effective leadership and training to volunteers
- Community Collaboration & Outreach
- Promote agency programs through community meetings, events, and presentations to community organizations, or through other public relations activities
- Coordinate and facilitate a monthly Service Committee meeting
- Programs
- Coordinate, recruit, and grow the center programs which include but not limited to Christmas Distribution, Kettles, Summer Camp and Back to School programs
- Emergency Preparedness- facilitate and coordinate planning center preparedness and training
- Perform other duties associated with the general responsibilities of the center and/or as assigned by supervisor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to operate a telephone, desktop, or laptop computer
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer

Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee’s normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.
Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months’ service time.
Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months’ service time.
Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays 1 floating holiday per year
