The Town of New Gloucester, Maine, is seeking a highly motivated Town Planner to lead the town’s planning department. New Gloucester is a growing community located between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn with a population of about 5,700.
This position is responsible for the duties associated with town planning, including development review, drafting of land use plans, comprehensive plans, land use ordinances, and special projects. The Town Planner also provides the staff support and leadership associated with town economic development planning.
The Town Planner serves as technical staff for the Planning Board, Land Management Planning Committee, Economic and Commumity Development Committee, and others as directed. The Town Planner reports to the Town Manager.
A Bachelor’s degree in land planning or a related field from an accredited college or university and at least three years professional experience in the field of land planning, economic development, or a related field are required. A master’s degree is highly desirable and may be substituted for two years of professional experience. Salary range is $68,000-$75,000, depending on experience.
