The University of Maine School of Computing and Information Science (SCIS) and Department of Mathematics and Statistics jointly seek applicants for a teaching faculty position at the rank of lecturer, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025 or January 1, 2026.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science and at least four years of related post-baccalaureate professional experience.
- Academic preparation appropriate to teaching in Mathematics at the 100 level.
- Evidence of ability to engage in successful college-level teaching.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
- A degree in Mathematics or Statistics or a closely related discipline.
- A graduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- Qualifications to teach a wide range of computer science courses from the introductory to advanced undergraduate levels, including but not limited to introductory and intermediate programming, computing foundations, discrete structures, along with introductory classes in mathematics and/or statistics.
- Documented participation in activities promoting inclusive excellence.
- Record of successful performance in collaborative settings.
- Involvement in developing or assessing curriculum or pedagogy.
