AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL ADJUNCT NEEDED

Course Descriptions:
Part-time Instructor needed to teach automotive electrical 1 for the Fall Semester at Southern Maine Community College. Applicant must be experienced in automotive electrical and electronics systems. Must be able to guide students with patience and clarity, while maintaining a safe, respectful, and amicable class environment. Other duties include using SMCC online learning management system (Brightspace) to deploy, grade, and track homework, tests, quizzes, and lab assignments. Instructor is responsible for final grade reporting at the finish of the class through the MYSMCC system. Instructor is responsible for ensuring students keep the shop clean and organized, tools are accounted for and returned to tool rooms at the end of each lab, as well as ensuring students use the proper uniform and PPE for the labs. Instructor will deliver a theory (chalk and talk) and a lab (hands on) session with students each week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of automotive electrical and electronics diagnostic work experience
- Desire to teach and inspire beginning technicians
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient computer skills (ability to use databases to track student progress, generate and answer emails, create online documents, attach files, etc.)
- High school or GED equivalent
- ASE in Electrical A6
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching experience/training or mentoring experience with beginning technicians
