Position Title: KVCC Health Information Management (HIM) Program Faculty
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level:
Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit. Benefits include: Retirement choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) or Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) - in lieu of Social Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Personal 2 days/year; and Sick 9 days/academic year.
Responsibilities:
This full-time faculty will teach in the Health Information Management program. The teaching assignment will include inpatient coding courses. Other faculty responsibilities will include coordination of student-directed practice placements, student advising, curriculum development, committee work, and participation in all program and institutional assessment activities, including program accreditation activities. The schedule may include day, evening or online courses.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate’s degree is required; a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is preferred; A credential of Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is required. The qualified applicant should have at least four years of experience in a variety of Health Information Management settings, inpatient coding knowledge and experience, and current knowledge of the technical and software applications required in Health Information Management.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or other equivalent coding credential (ex. CPC, CPC-H, etc.) is desired and experience with online teaching is a plus.
