POSITION TITLE: Nursing Faculty (Full-time): Behavioral Health (Psychiatric) Nursing Specialist and Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist
INSTITUTION: Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) is a 2-year comprehensive community college in mid-Maine serving students from Somerset, Kennebec, and Knox counties and well beyond. KVCC has two campuses in the heart of Central Maine - our 70-acre Fairfield Campus which is readily accessible by I-95 and our 600-acre Harold Alfond Campus just seven miles north. SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit. Salary Range ($42,767.86-$54,177.05). Benefits include: Retirement choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) or Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) - in lieu of Social Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Vacation 20 days/year; Personal 2 days/year; Sick 12 days/year; and 13 paid holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The nursing faculty responsibilities include teaching assigned didactic lectures, lab, and clinical rotations in behavioral health (psychiatric) and medical-surgical nursing. Other responsibilities include the coordination of outpatient behavioral health experiences and simulation instruction. Nursing faculty members participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and other activities pertinent to program accreditation. Faculty serve as advisors to nursing students and are active members of assigned College committees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Master’s degree in Nursing, and an unencumbered Maine RN license. The successful applicant must have 3–5 years of experience in the practice of behavioral health (psychiatric) nursing and medical surgical nursing. Teaching experience is preferred. Demonstrated professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative work style are essential. The applicant must meet clinical facility immunization requirements.
