Maine Family Planning is seeking a part-time (30 hours a week) Reproductive Empowerment Project Coordinator (REP) to join our team.  This position requires frequent travel within the state.


The Reproductive Empowerment Project (REP) intends to improve education and access to reproductive health services for substance-using and other high-risk people of childbearing age to produce positive personal and public health outcomes.  The REP Education Coordinator will establish collaborative working relationships with a wide array of organizations in Southern, Northern, Western, and Central Maine serving opioid-dependent and other hard-to-reach women of childbearing age, including needle exchange programs, domestic violence shelters, intensive outpatient programs, and pre-release programs designed to serve incarcerated female inmates about to end their sentences of confinement. Through these organizations, the REP Education Coordinator will provide educational sessions and coordinate telehealth encounters between patients of these programs and Maine Family Planning (MFP) clinicians.


Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements:  The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • Knowledge and understanding of some combination of the following: reproductive health care services, substance use disorders/harm reduction practices, and domestic violence. Training on reproductive health care services can be arranged for the right candidate. CNA, Medical Assistant or LPN experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships with populations who experience social stigma, including but not limited to people who: use drugs (including pregnant women); have been/currently are incarcerated; have experienced sexual exploitation, trafficking, and/or domestic and sexual violence; and/or have experienced homelessness.
  • Passion for and willingness to uphold the tenets of MFP’s mission, including respect for all patients’ bodily autonomy, individual right to privacy, and the right to make decisions about pregnancy that include accessing abortion.
  • Willingness to learn and regularly utilize internal computing and technical systems for hosting telehealth appointments, client tracking and data recording. Training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated experience working on cooperative projects with community partners and healthcare providers.
  • Excellent communication and group facilitation and process skills
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Strong data collection skills
  • Proven ability to be flexible and creative, and to exercise good judgment when navigating complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.


Education and Knowledge Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • Associate degree preferred and /or a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in either reproductive health or services related to substance use disorders.
  • Certified Medical Assistant required.

 

Other Requirements Needed for Position:

  • A valid driver’s license.


Starting salary: $21.42 hr.
