MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our team as a Psychiatric Hospital Consultant Professional in Portland, Maine. We are a cohesive team representing many disciplines, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Pharmacists, Resident Physicians and Medical Students. We value teamwork and strive to nurture a supportive environment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides psychiatric consultation to inpatients at Maine Medical Center. The candidate should have a comfort working with patients with substance use disorders.They provide face to face psychiatric evaluations and medication recommendations to patients on medical / surgical units. Due to the hospital-based setting, an ability to multitask and manage acute clinical scenarios is essential.Schedule : Full time - 32 hours per week, 4-8 hour shifts including weekend shifts.Minimum Qualifications :
- Master's degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing and / or medical theory and practice
- Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- 2 years of patient care in ambulatory mental health or hospital is preferred.
- Advanced skill and knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis and psychopharmacology. Comfort in treating patients with comorbid medical problems.This position offers :
