Position: BHS Fee for Service Case Manager
Position Type: Fee-for-Services
Rate: $40-45/hour ; $15/hour (documentation and supervision, up to 5 hours per week)
Job Summary
The BHS Case Manager supports eligible families by assessing their strengths and needs and developing individualized service plans that include appropriate services and supports. Case Managers work to empower families while navigating the mental health system and ensuring compliance with agency standards.
This is a Fee-for-Services position, meaning Case Managers are paid only for client meetings and approved documentation/supervision hours. This role offers flexibility to schedule appointments based on mutual availability with clients.
Essential Job Functions
- Uphold and promote agency values and philosophy in all aspects of employment.
- Maintain a minimum of 10 caseloads as required by the agency.
- Conduct assessments of clients’ strengths and needs.
- Facilitate the development of an Individual Support Plan, including treatment plans, 90-day reviews, and annual updates as required to ensure compliance with state documentation requirements.
- Document client progress notes, assessments, and service plans using Pimsy, the agency’s electronic health record system.
- Inform children and families of their rights as recipients of mental health services.
- Coordinate services, evaluate client progress and satisfaction, and monitor the effectiveness of services.
- Maintain complete and accurate client records, including assessments, service plans, treatment plans, and treatment plan reviews.
- Advocate for client rights and entitlements, as outlined in the Rights of Recipients of Mental Health Services.
- Maintain relationships through home visits, phone calls, and collaboration with families and service providers.
- Complete required documentation promptly (e.g., client records, evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans).
- Empower families to navigate the mental health system independently.
- Comply with all agency case management standards.
- Work effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Other Related Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the agency in committees and meetings to promote its programs and values.
- Respond to unexpected emergency situations.
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with State and Federal laws.
- Prepare and submit activity reports upon request.
- Participate in weekly individual or group supervision.
- Provide feedback and consultation to the agency based on personal experience or expertise.
- Assist in training new staff as needed.
- Attend mandatory weekly supervision with the supervisor.
Specifications/Qualifications Certification:
- MHRT/C Certification, CANS
Education/Training:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field or cultural relevancy.
Job-Related Experience:
- Parent of a child with special needs is preferred. If not applicable, a four-year degree with at least one year of relevant experience working with families and children is required.
- Experience facilitating group discussions is preferred.
Special Skills:
- Sensitivity to children with mental health challenges, their families, and service providers.
- Ability to provide high-quality services while respecting clients’ dignity and concerns.
- Knowledge of childhood disorders, development, and related services.
- Advocacy skills for individual cases and broader systems.
- Strong interviewing and assessment skills, or the ability to develop them.
- Proficiency in computer use and familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., Pimsy).
Cognitive Requirements

- Work Environment

Other Requirements
- Evening or weekend work may be required based on client needs.
- Reliable transportation with valid Maine driver’s license and auto insurance is necessary. The vehicle must have minimum liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000 for client transport.
