Job Responsibilities
The Assistant Training Officer will be responsible for developing and teaching classroom and laboratory classes, supervising and training students, and acting as a safety observer during evolutions involving groups of students.
Key Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and familiarity with all shipboard systems and equipment.
- Experience as Engineer Watch Officer or related experience is preferred.
- Ability to teach boiler operations, turbine operations, fuel transfer procedures, engine room auxiliary equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and proper use of Safety Management Systems.
Work Environment
This position requires working in a dynamic and challenging environment, with exposure to extremes in weather onboard ship, including rain, sleet, snow, rough seas. The employee will also regularly sit, walk through narrow passages, climb ladders, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with arms and hands, lift and move up to 40 pounds, and work in areas of high noise levels.
