Safety and Security Role
The Campus Safety Officer II plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors at Maine Maritime Academy. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the safety and security of students, employees, and visitors on campus.
- Responding promptly and professionally to customer requests for assistance with student-related issues, parking questions, or emergency situations.
- Collaborating with Student Services to protect the welfare and safety of students.
- Maintaining accurate records according to campus policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety documents, SOPs, and manuals.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be detail-oriented and effectively communicate with students, employees, residents of Castine, and State/Local agencies.
Environmental Factors
This position requires physical exertion, standing, walking, running, and climbing up and down stairs. The ability to walk across campus, up and hills, and onboard ships is also necessary. Regular moderate activity with periods of sustained exertion is expected.
