Job Description
The Campus Safety Officer II is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, employees, and visitors at Maine Maritime Academy. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in emergency situations.
Main Responsibilities
- Patrolling the campus to identify potential safety hazards and security concerns.
- Responding to customer requests for assistance with student-related issues, parking questions, or emergency situations.
- Working closely with Student Services to ensure the welfare and safety of students are protected.
- Maintaining required records according to campus policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Qualifications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety documents, SOPs, and manuals.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be detail-oriented and effectively communicate with students, employees, residents of Castine, and State/Local agencies.
Working Conditions
This position requires physical exertion, standing, walking, running, and climbing up and down stairs. The ability to walk across campus, up and hills, and onboard ships is also necessary. Regular moderate activity with periods of sustained exertion is expected.
